Message from the Head of the Physics Department

We are proud to be a part of the oldest university of our country.
Our department began its educational activities in 1933 with the University Reform. Our department played and continues to play a key role in the establishment of the physics departments of many other universities in our country.
The vision of the physics department is to become an internationally recognized, preferred, and acknowledged department. The vision is to keep up with the latest developments around the world in the area of physics by bringing up researcher physicists and to ensure that these advances are applied and further developed in our department, too. In recent years, alongside fundamental research, original and new areas were targeted by research done in this direction. With regard to national projects, support provided by the Scientific Research Projects unit of our university is pivotal. The level of research is maintained by international projects as well.
58 undergraduate and 46 graduate courses are taught in our department. Furthermore, faculty members of our department teach classes in other departments of our faculty, and Faculties of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Letters, Fisheries, and Forestry, as well as the Academy of Air Combat. Educational services are provided by our academicians to approximately 6000 students. In our department where, since the beginning of the 2014-15 academic year, 30% of classes are held in English following a year-long preparatory class, educational and research activities are conducted by 14 professors, 13 associate professors, 23 assistant professors, 16 research assistants and 3 physicists.
Keeping the needs of our country in mind, we continue to work with perseverance in order to survive in a world that is changing and progressing, and to adapt to advances in technology.
We have the power and we are well equipped to achieve this.
